Summary School of Human Sciences Laboratory Technician (Biology) Salary from £24,126 to £27,252 per annum (inclusive of London Allowance) Full-time Permanent Location: Holloway Site (Science Centre) ABOUT US London Metropolitan University is committed to making education available to people from all walks of life and plays an important role in society and our local community. The School of Human Sciences offers a wide range of courses in subjects including applied biology, biomedical sciences, chemical and pharmaceutical Sciences, nutrition and dietetics, and sports science and therapy. ABOUT THE POST One of the School's greatest assets the Science Centre, which features a Superlab with more than 280 workstations and is one of the largest and most advanced science teaching facilities. The School of Human Sciences is offering an excellent opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic laboratory technician to join our biology team in the Science Centre. You will be responsible for providing a wide range of technical support for class practicals, provision of specialist advice and support for project activities associated with the running of student and research projects, demonstrations and maintaining inventories and records as well as any consultancy work. We are particularly interested in an experienced individual who will provide technical expertise and possess extensive demonstrable biology, biosciences, biomedical science and forensic science experience gained within a broad range of working environments. You will be a team player who is well organised, numerate, practical and efficient, able to relate well to young people and have excellent interpersonal skills. You will possess/acquire general knowledge and competence to work at a fundamental level across a number of areas of expertise in a varied environment, work both individually and as a member of the technical team, providing support in a flexible way where it is required which will help to ensure that staff and students who work within the Science laboratories follow the required Health and Safety protocols. Experience of Word and Excel and some experience of databases will be an advantage.
