Summary The University of Plymouth, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has an exciting suite of taught Masters level programmes and in 2015 launched a Postgraduate Diploma Physician Associate (PA) Studies, which became an MSc PA Studies from January 2018. The faculty seek to appoint 2 Part-Time Lecturers to the position of Lecturer in Clinical Education (Physician Associate Studies). This position would be appropriate if you are a qualified Physician Associate, a healthcare professional, or hold a PhD in a relevant healthcare or biomedical science. You will be highly motivated and passionate about developing a career in postgraduate clinical education and will have an interest in developing yourself in an academic role. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has an established reputation for its clinical education in both Medicine and Dentistry, and the Physician Associate programme, which is delivered within the Medical School alongside the BMBS programme, is an established programme with an exceptional record of graduate success at the National Examination. The PA programme is embedded within the Medical School at Peninsula Medical School, and you would be joining an established and experienced team of clinical and non-clinical academics involved in delivery of the programme. Whilst you may be required to work across both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education programmes, you will principally work in conjunction with clinical and academic colleagues in the postgraduate medical education team on the design, development, and delivery of the MSc Physician Associate Studies. There is an opportunity to develop your own academic knowledge and skills through completion of the Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education (PgCert ClinEd) or Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) at the University. You will hold a Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Physician Associate Studies, a PhD, or medical/nursing degree or equivalent and ideally have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience. A postgraduate qualification in education/teaching is desirable and experience of working in healthcare in a clinical and/or leadership role is essential. These are 2 part-time positions working 18.5 hours per week on a permanent basis. Please note: A full-time appointment would be considered and the division of this post may be negotiated.
