Summary Faculty of Science School of Biological Sciences Teaching Fellow/Senior Teaching Fellow in Environmental Microbiology Employment type: Permanent Employment basis: Full-time Salary: £35,211 to £38,460 per annum (Teaching Fellow) £39,609 to £48,677 per annum (Senior Teaching Fellow) Post number: ZZ005500 Closing date: 10 September 2019 Interview date: 02 October 2019 We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Fellow/Senior Teaching Fellow in the area of Environmental Microbiology. Our department is well regarded as shown in league tables (3rd in the Guardian league table) and has good student satisfaction in this subject area. At an institutional level, we hold Gold standard in the Teaching Excellence Framework. In addition to this, the School performed very well in the Research Excellence Framework (REF2014), is ranked 3rd among the post-'92 institutions in this subject area (UoA7) and reported 72% of its research as being world leading or internationally excellent. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching in the area of Environmental Microbiology with experience of designing and performing undergraduate laboratory sessions at containment level 2. We would particularly welcome applications from those with experience in areas including virology, mycology or parasitology. They would also be expected to contribute more generally to the delivery of Microbiology and also to the general teaching activities and pastoral care across the School at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level. In addition to holding a PhD and having published in relevant peer-reviewed journals, it is essential that the appointee is able to demonstrate experience of teaching in the areas described in addition to more general aspects of Biological Sciences.
