Salary: £36,900 - £56,500 depending on skills and experience + car/cash allowance + annual bonus

We are currently recruiting for a Civil Engineer to join the Engineering Centre's Civil Team, this key role will be primarily responsible for providing engineering input into assessing the integrity of high-consequence civil hydro assets (comprising inspection, design assessment and reporting) and providing engineering input to new hydro projects.
Working closely with the Operational Teams, you will deliver value and contribute to the overall operational excellence of the business. This will require a practical approach combining site-based inspection work and the review of historical records from which you will be required to undertake thorough and detailed interpretation and analysis of the engineering issues. You will be required to communicate the results of such assessments effectively to various stakeholders and assist in developing work plans including the design of repair/modification works, cost estimating and programming.
There is also the opportunity to become involved in our diverse new build project portfolio including onshore and offshore wind farms, hydro schemes, thermal generating plant and other emerging technologies.
This role offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to become involved in the full life cycle from conception to decommissioning of large civil infrastructure. Although office-based, you will make frequent site visits and enjoy immense variety in your role that few other companies could offer due to our unique portfolio of civil assets.
Your Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will be educated to a minimum of degree level in Civil Engineering and have a comprehensive understanding of legislation, design and operational standards related to civil assets. Chartered or close to sitting your Chartership Professional Review is essential, as is previous experience relating to asset integrity, risk and the performance of ageing structures.
You will display excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess an innovative mind set, with a flexible approach. Furthermore, you'll have the capacity to deliver high quality work on a consistent basis in a demanding environment, effectively managing changing business and departmental priorities.
The technical support and guidance you provide will relate to assets including tunnels, pressure pipelines and dams/reservoirs.
