Role We are looking for people with the right skills to join the teams delivering the department's portfolio of around 35 major projects. The role of the Project Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project's objectives. The Project Support Officer enables the smooth running of the project by supporting the project manager through the operation of project management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf.
Typical responsibilities include: • Supporting effective planning and scheduling of work. • Managing project controls, monitoring progress made against plans and draft performance reports including progress towards realising benefits. • Monitoring project spend and contributing to the compilation of budgets. Procuring supplies and services related to project support within Delegated Financial Authority limits. • Managing and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. • Leading potential risk areas, working with risk manager and escalating as appropriate. • Ensuring organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Provide secretariat support to project governance arrangements. Managing compliance of the project with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning. • Support the organisation of independent programme / project assurance activities, including liaising with internal and external assurance teams to organise and facilitate gateway reviews of the programme.
