Lecturer in Teacher Education and Professional Learning
Teaching and learning support Design,develop and deliver programmes.Use appropriate teaching and learning support and assessment methods.Review on a regular basis course content and materials, updating when required.Supervise student projects and placements.Identify areas current provision is in need of revision or improvement.Set,mark and assess work and provide feedback. Research and scholarship Engage in subject, professional and pedagogy scholarly activity/research as required to support teaching activities.Participate in individual or collaborative scholarly projects.Develop and produce learning materials and disseminate the results of scholarly activity.Development of research-informed teaching and learning strategies. Liaison and networking Participate in external networks for example with external examiners and assessors professional associations.Develop links with external contacts such as other educational bodies,employers,and professional bodies. Managing people Mentor colleagues and advise on development, could be expected to supervise the work of others.Ensure modules are delivered to the standards required.Resolve problems affecting the quality of course delivery and student progress within of own areas of responsibility. Teamwork Act as a responsible team member,leading where agreed. Initiative, problem-solving and decision-making Identify need for developing content or structure of modules.Responsibility for the design and delivery of own modules and assessment.Contribute to the accreditation of courses and quality control.Co-ordinate with others to ensure student needs and expectations are met.Manage projects such as placements.Be responsible for administrative duties in areas.Possess sufficient breadth or depth of specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop teaching programmes and the provision of learning support. Education and Qualifications-Essential Good honours degree and/or equivalent professional qualification.Qualified Teacher Status.Master's qualification,or an ability to complete within two years.Ability to achieve Fellow Status as part of the Higher Education Academy's Professional Recognition scheme, within a 2-year period.Membership of a professional body Education and Qualifications-Desirable PhD or other doctoral award, or an ability to complete within an agreed timescale. Knowledge-Essential An in-depth knowledge relevant to the professional area.Evidence of undertaking continuous professional development (CPD).An in-depth understanding of pedagogy.A sound understanding of research/enterprise and scholarly activity. Knowledge-Desirable Regional/National/International recognition in specialist subject and/or professional area Skills and Abilities Relating to Role-Essential To design teaching and learning material.To employ appropriate assessment methods.To contribute to the achievement of the School Strategic Enabling Plan and the development of other school activities.To undertake administrative duties in an accurate and timely fashion.To plan workloads and projects and manage resources effectively.To identify areas for improvement and to use initiative and problem solving skills to improve performance.To take responsibility for a number of key areas such as module tutor, research supervision.To communicate and disseminate complex and conceptual ideas in a variety of ways - presentations, reports, learning materials, results of scholarly activity, feedback.To develop productive working relationships as part of a professional team.To lead/develop / work collaboratively with a number of internal and external networks. To provide professional advice to a wide range of stakeholders.To communicate using everyday Welsh at a level consistent with primary curriculum requirements. Experience Paid/Unpaid-Essential Significant experience of teaching in the primary school sector.Experience of HE teaching or equivalent. Experience Paid/Unpaid-Desirable Experience of teaching and scholarship in Higher Education.
