We are looking to recruit a Category Manager for a new role within the UKs leading engineering and support services business, based in their regional headquarters in Bristol.
Reporting to the Head of Category Management Marine Sector, the Procurement & Supply Chain Lead will have responsibility for category leadership, including strategy definition and execution across Projects and Business Units within the Marine Division and, where relevant, across the wider Group.
Establishing Project and Business Unit requirements, including those driven by the future bid pipeline
Supporting business growth teams to design and engage supply chains that meet future requirements
Delivering tangible, bottom-line benefits to the Division resulting from pan-Business Unit category management of Spend
Supporting the delivery of Business Unit strategies through the appropriate application of supplier relationship management and the provision of category subject matter expertise.
The Sub-Category Lead will have responsibility for c .£30 - 50M expenditure across the defined category.
Define category strategies that maximise value for the business based on understanding of business needs and supply market potential
Builds deep knowledge of the supply market within the business
Execution of the category strategy, including negotiating and contracting with suppliers, evaluating on-going contract and supplier performance and measuring contract compliance
Provide subject matter expertise to the business through a Networked Function approach
Captures specific business requirements and builds into ITT or RFx documents
Executes pan BU sourcing activity using strategic sourcing methodologies in order to put fit-for-purpose supply contracts in place
Accountable for the implementation of pan-divisional contracts so that they can be used in practice by the business units
Where appropriate, supports major bid activity where there is a significant category requirement
Supplier Relationship Management
Segmenting and managing suppliers within the category
Executing the appropriate strategies to incentivise and engage suppliers and to measure and incentivise their performance
Managing appropriate supplier governance, fed by relevant data and attended by empowered representatives of both organisations
Ownership of overall contractual relationships where agreed
Education & Professional Qualifications
Qualified to degree level or equivalent
MCIPS or equivalent professional qualifications
Experience & Background
Experienced procurement practitioner with knowledge of current strategic procurement techniques and c. 5 Years in Sourcing & Procurement
Experience in category leadership Subject matter expertise in relevant categories, both direct and indirect
Experience working in project environments at both bidding and delivery phases of lifecycle
Proven track record of identifying and delivering procurement savings
