Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Senior Practitioner, Families First Team within the Social Care industry in Durham County Council. Our client is undergoing a restructure of their service to ensure that the Child's Journey is a smooth and as easy as possible. They are willing to offer flexible working hours with supportive and consistent management with regular supervision on cases. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced hard-working team that are focused on making a positive change in Children's lives.


Responsibilities include:

  • To respond to queries and referrals from a number of different sources
  • Undertake Initial Visits to families and conduct risk assessments.
  • To investigate any concerns of neglect through Section 47 Investigations
  • Work on Duty where necessary - often screening all incoming calls
  • To work with children and their families in ensuring the family unit remains together where possible
  • Prioritising work according to need
  • Managing a high caseload
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case files
  • Supporting junior members of the team

To be successful:

For this Senior Practitioner, Families First Team you will need to be a Qualified Social Worker with a HCPC Registration and educated to Degree Level; IE: CCS/CQSW/DIPSW/MA SW/BA HONS SW. You will need to have Eligibility to Work in the UK with previous experience as a Qualified Social Worker within a Children's Safeguarding or Child Protection team. This client does request that for this role the candidate must be a Car Driver.
