We are the RNLI. Our purpose is simple, to save lives at sea. Across the UK and Ireland, the RNLI brand is recognised for our lifesaving work, from rescue and supervision to education and prevention. Whilst the organisation currently receives the majority of its income from voluntary donations, we have identified a significant opportunity to grow our commercial income through trading activities.
We are looking for a Head of Commercial Development who can assess the existing commercial operations, create a strategy which enables us to uncover untapped potential and develop a growth plan. This commercial portfolio will support a sustainable funding model and ensure future lifesaving delivery.
The Head of Commercial Development will be responsible for:
- Creating the RNLI's commercial strategy that aligns to the RNLI's ethos and values - Delivery of the commercial funding targets - Setting measures and metrics to monitor performance across the commercial portfolio and provide assurance against delivery targets - Identifying risks and opportunities within the commercial income stream to support our overall funding strategy - Working with existing teams to set objectives which deliver growth in the commercial portfolio - Exploring the opportunities for new commercial propositions for the RNLI via a combination of known products, product enhancements or peripheral product development - Presenting Business Cases and New Product Development programmes at Commercial, Board, Executive Team and Trustees level as required - Developing robust commercialisation plans and evaluating the potential and practicality of new products/services - Scoping and planning the launches of these products/services and embedding them into the marketplace
To be considered as the Head of Commercial Development, you'll need experience of the following:
- Business development, introducing appropriate processes, structure and measures of success - Successfully influencing and working with boards/at board level - Identifying opportunities and solutions through effective market analysis - Formulating annual business plans, monitoring and reporting
The ideal Head of Commercial Development will have experience of developing a new business, business unit or new commercial launches. Sales and/or marketing experience would also be beneficial.
