Do you have experience of application development? Are you able to demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills?

If so, we are currently seeking technical Senior Application Support Engineers with experience in providing third-line technical support. As an Application Support Engineer, you will be working in a collaborative and high-performing product support team.

Taking a hands-on role in providing technical support for the DVLA's Enterprise Scale applications, both on legacy platforms and newly transformed cloud digital services, you will be diagnosing and fixing live technical problems, including working with developers when required.

As part of DLVA's legacy to cloud transformation programme you will be supporting brand new systems, resolving service delivery issues and monitoring technology performance, while looking for additional opportunities for improvement.

As a technically astute engineer, you'll be supporting services that have been developed using industry-leading technologies and techniques, including containers, CI/CD, automation and Agile methodologies and tools.

You'll provide leadership, working on your own initiative but also collaborating as part of a team structure - learning from other team members and mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities:

• Monitoring and resolving application related incidents.
• Analysing multi-threaded application log files.
• Ensuring good engineering practices and knowledge sharing within your team.
• Mentoring other engineers within your team.
• Working with the wider engineering community to ensure that newly transformed systems are supportable and fit for purpose.

Essential knowledge and experience:

• 3rd-Line Applications Support.
• Application development with standard enterprise languages, e.g. Java.
• CLI usage on Windows and UNIX.
• Understanding of cloud services and techniques, e.g. AWS, Azure, CI/CD.
• Software development methodologies, including Agile.
