Background

The School of Arts & Social Sciences is an internationally excellent centre of research and learning on the human condition in all its dimensions. It is a large and vibrant School with around 3,000 students (one third postgraduate) and over 250 staff in seven Departments: Economics, English, International Politics, Journalism, Music, Sociology and Psychology. The School aims to attract outstanding members of academic staff who will produce world-leading research of benefit to society; provide innovative and exciting programmes of study; and enrich the lives and enhance the career prospects of its students.

The Department of International Politics is a leading centre for research and undergraduate and postgraduate education. It has strength in three core areas of research in international relations: International Political Economy; Foreign Policy & Diplomacy; and Comparative Politics. The Department hosts the City Political Economy Research Centre (CITYPERC), the Centre for International Policy Studies (CIPS) and the new Centre for Modern History.

Responsibilities
The Department is seeking to appoint an outstanding academic as Lecturer in International Political Economy (IPE). The appointed candidate will have an established record of world-leading or internationally excellent research and a strong commitment and capability to deliver high quality education. He or she will deliver both general and specialist courses in IPE at undergraduate and postgraduate levels; will publish world-leading or internationally excellent research with REF impact; will successfully apply for external funding; and will carry out departmental and other administrative duties as required.
