POSITION: PROCESS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER

LOCATION: Newcastle

DURATION: Permanent

SALARY: Circa £40k, plus pension, tailored training program & career development

Shift: Monday - Friday

We are seeking a process improvement engineer to join one of our clients sites in the Newcastle area.

The role initially reports into the operations/plant manager but will provide a path through to operations management within the organisation,

This is a rare and exciting opportunity for an accomplished engineer, process improvement engineer, manufacturing engineer, or an engineer with experience of making plant, process or people based improvement within manufacturing.

The roll offers an opportunity for an individual to progress their career within an established manufacturing business.

The position is offered upon a permanent basis and will be working for a fast paced PLC listed manufacturing company, with multiple sites across the UK and further afield. The successful applicant will form an integral part of the Management Team, by offering site wide Engineering & Continuous Improvement support.

Key responsibilities will lie in the following functional areas:

Provision of Mechanical support to facilitate Continuous Improvement & legal compliance across the manufacturing plant

Help develop, introduce & monitor systems / standards to deliver world class workplace organisation and efficiency.

Assisting site management with the development & implementation of Capital projects.

Analysis & effective use of production / process data to achieve key manufacturing targets & objectives.

Promote & Apply Continuous Improvement tools, techniques & methodology. E.g. OEE, SMED, 5s, TPM etc

Implementation of & adherence to company Health & Safety policy.

Effective interdepartmental liaison to achieve defined objectives & optimise efficiency.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Evidence of general Mechanical Engineering competency (HNC, NVQ, or above)

Good level of computer literacy across the Microsoft Office suite

Proven track record of tangible improvement initiatives, covering continuous improvement, lean and/or six sigma projects

Ability to persuade others to commit to objectives & targets

Demonstrable ability to implement structured problem solving techniques, provide solutions and develop action plans

The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the business, verbal & written

The desire to progress into a more senior managerial position is desirable but not essential

Strong analytical skills
