About the role

With a leading responsibility for the University's first International Institute, and spending up to 50% of your time in the People's Republic of China (PRC), you will oversee the University team delivering the teaching and providing associated professional service support. A major aspect of the role is the interaction with all levels of staff at the University's Chinese HE partner as well as with the University's legal and financial advisers in the PRC. In addition, you will be responsible for the forward planning, financial management, teaching provision and professional service quality.

The University of Leicester and Dalian University of Technology have a long-standing history of collaboration. For many years this was at the research level, between individual and small groups of academic staff. In 2015 DUT's campus in Panjin, sought to establish a Cooperative Education Institute with a highly ranked, teaching and research-led UK university. The University of Leicester, because of its previous collaboration with DUT and its focus on and successful history in internationalisation was an ideal partner.

About you

With experience leading and managing international academic partnerships related to the HE environment, you will have significant experience of working in a physical science or an engineering setting. A thorough knowledge of University procedures is key, including degree regulations, finance, budgeting, staffing and student targets. Alongside this, you will have a good understanding of HE issues, plus an awareness of the cultures and major influences in universities and colleges in the UK, PRC and other countries.
