Summary Quantity Surveyor Sandwell The Role The Quantity Surveyor agrees Company and Client requirements and manages civil engineering / construction projects from initial calculations to final accounting. Seeks to minimise costs, enhance value for money and manages risks to ensure successful project completion to required standards, costs and time. Responsibilities / Duties • Contributes to Bid activities, building pricing models for Target Cost and Fixed Price contracts, preparing tender returns and contract documents, including bills of quantities for all work streams. • Creates and maintains excellent relationships with Senior Commercial/Operations Managers from Blue Chip clients • Assists Contract Managers and Senior Management to operate, maintain and report on financial matters relative to specific contracts • Produces reports and applications for payment, submitted within set deadlines • Manages sub-contractor approvals, allocates work to sub-contractors, produces sub-contractor payments and reports and maintains accurate records • Commercial management of projects, including cash flow forecasting and monitoring progress • Completes regular cost / value reconciliations (CVRs), analysing outcomes, effectively tracking variations and reporting on profitability • Attends weekly/monthly management meetings with clients in order to reduce outstanding balances and improve company cash flow position • Deals with payment discrepancies and outstanding balances on review of Statement of Accounts on a weekly basis for all work streams • Analyses and responds to commercial risks throughout the project cycle • Issues early warnings/claims/compensation events weekly to clients and negotiates settlements • Offers alternative solutions and value engineering • Advises on legal issues arising during the project • Provides administration support to the existing commercial team, including entering relevant data into software systems and managing filing systems Experience • 3 to 4 years relevant experience including utilities sector experience • Part RICS qualified of equivalent • Excellent attention to detail problem solving, reading reports and accurately compiling relevant data from them. Must be excellent with figures • Excellent knowledge of excel spread sheet systems • Excellent knowledge of Commercial Contract Law (NEW Option A-E Inc. EWNs & "Z" Clauses) • Excellent communication and presentation skills especially when dealing with Clients & Directors • Strong numerical and financial management skills • Articulate and client facing • UK Driving License Holder Relevant degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Finance or a similar field Package & Benefits Salary: Negotiable (dependent on experience), Days (45hrs per week), Company Car (+Fuel Card) Laptop & Phone.
