Summary The Department of Health and Social Care is looking for a Head of Content to lead a small team of content designers. The team is part of the digital communities and channels team in the communications division and is responsible for all the department's publishing to GOV.UK, the intranet and other channels. Key responsibilities: • Leading the content and channels team and directing the team's work to make sure the department's publishing needs are met • Setting and maintaining standards for content across all our official channels • Working closely with the Head of Digital Communities and Channels and digital engagement colleagues to develop our platforms and drive continual improvement of our consultations • Championing user-centred content design across the department • Advising colleagues across the department on user-centred content design • Leading the content design profession in the department and building excellent relationships with content colleagues in GDS, across government and in the health and social care sector Key requirements We need someone who: • Can lead a team in a fast-changing and pressurised environment, create a positive and collaborative culture in the team and act as an advocate for them, particularly when complex problems arise • Has demonstrable experience and understanding of user-centred content design, including working on GOV.UK • Has the confidence and diplomacy to advise internal colleagues on making content suitable for our audiences • Has demonstrable experience of how to ensure content is accessible for as wide an audience as possible • Can act as a champion for excellent content, and the importance of the content team's work, across the department We will assess some strengths and technical knowledge in a presentation and interview.
