Talent Recruitment Northampton
Summary Fixed term for 12 months Background The Faculty of Business and Law is one of four faculties at the University of Northampton. During the last 5 years the Faculty has achieved significant growth in partnership working in the UK and internationally, and now has more students studying offsite with partners than onsite at the University campus. The portfolio that we offer through our partners covers a growing range of disciplines from across the Faculty at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Much of our partnership working uses a franchise model, whereby partner institutions are approved to deliver our programmes locally on our behalf. The success of franchise delivery requires an effective relationship between academic staff in the Faculty and at our partners, and robust implementation of quality assurance, enhancement and annual review processes. To ensure that quality and standards in our franchised delivery are comparable with those at the University, the Faculty has created a new type of academic post to coordinate this work. The role We wish to recruit a team of Partnership Assessment and Quality Coordinators in the following disciplines to support the delivery and enhancement of our franchised curriculum; 1. Accounting & Finance 2. Business Systems & Operations 3. Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour 4. International Strategy & Business Each post holder will assume responsibility for a portfolio of franchised programmes and modules within an identified subject domain. Working with our Head of Partnership Programmes, each will coordinate the delivery, assessment and review of this portfolio across all partners to ensure comparability of quality and standards with those at the University. The post holders These are academic posts. Post holders must possess a Master's degree in a cognate subject, and either hold Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or be willing to obtain Fellowship in an agreed timescale. Demonstrable subject knowledge in relevant discipline(s) is essential, as is the ability to moderate student work in a variety of formats (e.g. essay, report, presentation, examination, portfolio etc.). Understanding of quality assurance and enhancement processes is also essential, as is the ability to use a VLE to access and moderate work and to communicate with partner staff. Communication is a key aspect of these posts, so the ability to communicate in a variety of forms with colleagues at the University and partner institutions with diplomacy and cultural sensitivity is essential. Excellent organisational skills are also required. Closing Date: Sunday 7 April 2019 Interview Date: Thursday 25 April 2019 The University of Northampton's focus on a personalised learning experience for our students was recently cited by HEFCE as a reason for our Gold award in the Teaching Excellence Framework 2017. To augment this approach further we have adopted an 'Active Blended Learning' (ABL) approach which places greater emphasis on student-centred activities that support the development of subject knowledge, understanding, independent learning and digital fluency. Successful candidates for academic posts at the University of Northampton will be expected to adopt ABL as standard in their teaching practice. This is an exciting time to join our University following our relocation in September 2018 to a new purpose-built, town-centre campus designed to adapt to 21st century teaching and the ABL model. We are looking to recruit individuals who share our passion for innovation, creativity and social impact and who will play a key role as we realise our ambition of transforming lives for the better and inspiring positive change. The University of Northampton is one of only two Ashoka U Changemaker Campuses in the UK, and in 2017 was awarded the Social Enterprise Gold Mark, an independent guarantee that we have proven to our employees, students and stakeholders that we are committed to continuous improvement across our business in order to consistently deliver a positive impact on people and planet. To apply online please visit the University of Northampton website. All candidates will be asked to provide proof of eligibility to work in the UK at interview. The University of Northampton as an employer strives to achieve diversity among its staff which reflects the communities it serves.
