Summary Mental Health Act Administration Assistant What's special about this opportunity? Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust can provide you with a dynamic, people-centred environment, where you will be empowered to support our Mental Health Act Administrators in the legal administration of the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 and the Mental Health Capacity Act (2008) in the delivery of an efficient and fully-compliant service, ensuring that no patients are ever unlawfully detained or miss an opportunity to defend themselves or be defended. Based in Reading and located close to the amenities of the town centre and a leafy park, Prospect Park Hospital has seven mental health wards, supporting adults and older adults with mental ill health. These include four mixed adult wards (Rose, Bluebell, Daisy and Snowdrop), providing care to adults with mental health conditions; one Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) andtwo older adult acute wards : Rowan Ward, specialising in patients with dementia related illnesses; and Orchid Ward, supporting older adults with other mental health conditions, such as Bipolar affective disorder, depression and schizophrenia. Receiving a 'Good' rating, across all domains in our latest CQC report, we work closely with patients to help them to identify their needs and participate actively in their recovery, providing a place of nurture, where they can find hope and meaningful purpose to their lives. What will the role involve? Supporting our newly established, busy team of four, there is an opportunity to work hours that suit your circumstances (working either 08.00-16.00, 08.30-16.30, or 09.00-17.00). Focusing on delivering efficient and effective administration, the successful candidate will be required to work as a Team Member and assist in the running of the MHA Office.The role will involve, amongst other duties, corresponding with patients and their relatives, ensuring that records are maintained, collate reports and enable data to be used to its maximum potential.In addition, it involves communicating professionally with multi-disciplinary teams, patients and carers, the Tribunal Service, Care Quality Commission, the police and social services and other Public Bodies. About you: Highly-organised, you will enjoy working in a busy environment and take pleasure in achieving your targets. With some legal knowledge or a good understanding of Berkshire Health and its objectives, you will have administrative experience, be adept at problem-solving and have excellent communication and people skills.
