Come and work for NELFT's new Kent Children and Young People's Mental Health Service (CYPMHS) and Medway Young People's Wellbeing Service (YPWS), and be part of one of the UK's most innovative healthcare Trusts About NELFT's new CYPMHS/YPWS NELFT's CYPMHS/YPWS is for anybody aged between 0-19 living in the Kent or Medway area and is free at the point of entry. The service is also for young people with special educational needs (SEN) up to the age of 25. The CAMHS Tier II and Tier III services no longer exist, replaced with an integrated CYPMHS. Any young person experiencing emotional wellbeing or mental health problems, (or any parent, guardian, professional or teacher of a child who is experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties), may access our service. Crisis Team The Crisis Team involves risk assessment and management of young people experiencing acute mental health crisis in both community and A&E settings. We are looking for candidates who have demonstrable knowledge, understanding and experience of working with the legal frameworks which relate to the care and treatment of children and young people in crisis. In particular the Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended in 2007). We are looking for people to join us in our Kent and Medway Crisis Team who have the flexibility and enthusiasm to work in a service that operates 7 days a week, 365 days per year. This therefore involves working some unsociable hours and being a car driver with access to a vehicle. Applicants must have registration under the either NMC for mental health nursing or be a registered social worker or hold registration with other allied health professional registering body, and have experience in working with children and young people with mental health problems. NELFT has been commissioned to provide care to young people in mental health crisis in line with the principles of the Mental Health Crisis Care Concordat (gov.uk). The Concordat is arranged around: • Access to support before crisis point • Urgent and emergency access to crisis care • The right quality of treatment and care when in crisis • Recovery and staying well, and preventing crises All clinical work involves joint work with the CYPMHS and YPWS locality teams in order to ensure smooth transfer back and out of crisis. The teams have the ability to work with young people and their families in their own homes, being seen on a daily basis if the need requires. The work is aimed at crisis management, risk management, prevention of admission and, if the latter cannot be avoided, then the teams work effectively with inpatient units to ensure a short stay in hospital with intensive post discharge follow-up. We are currently looking for enthusiastic experienced clinicians to work across our crisis teams. We are particularly looking for clinicians who have experience in: 1. Assessment, diagnostic and management of people experiencing acute mental health crisis preferably in both community and hospital settings 2. Demonstrable knowledge, understanding and experience of working with the legal frameworks which relate the care and treatment of children and young people with particular reference to Children Act 1989, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended in 2007) 3. Flexibility to meet service need which operates 7 days a week 365 days per year including unsociable hours 4. Cover services across Kent and Medway 5. Formulating specific highly specialist care and treatment plans; providing highly skilled and specialist interventions and care to service users with complex mental health problems. Completing detailed written assessments in a timely manner. 6. Have experience in delivering taught sessions to other professionals in the area of crisis and risk management. 7. Have impeccable communication skills particularly when dealing in highly emotive situations. 8. Knowledge of RIO computerised patient record systems would be preferable. 9. Have experience of prioritising workloads and responding to patient needs in usually unpredictable environments. Working in our Crisis team is for you if you are excited by a modern approach. Assessment At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. If you are shortlisted, invited for interview and successfully offered the post, you will be required to undertake an assessment for these skills during the pre-employment checks NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex.
