Summary Mechanical Fitters / Electricians - Rail Heavy Maintenance Arriva Traincare have multiple fixed term contract opportunities for Mechanical Fitters and Electricians to join the busy Crewe depot. Contract: 12-month fixed term contract, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm. Please note, in the foreseeable future this may change to a 2-shift system, further details to be discussed at interview. What will this role of Mechanical Fitter / Electrician entail? Reporting to the Team Leader, as a Mechanical Fitter you'll carry out the overhaul of rail vehicles to laid down standards and procedures and play an active part in continuously improving product quality. Tasks will include fitting floors, panelling, seating, tables, windows and doors in the interior of rolling stock, and operating rail vehicles as required. As an Electrician your tasks will include installing and replacing traction and rolling stock components, carry out modifications in accordance with specified procedures, installing and terminating vehicle control wiring harnesses. What will I need to be considered for this Mechanical Fitter / Electrician role? • Time served mechanical and / or electrical engineer with a solid understanding of rail (preferred), aircraft or heavy plant maintenance activities • Qualified to a minimum of City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 or BTEC in Engineering, preferably within Rail Traction and Rolling Stock • Good understanding of depot operations and mechanical and electrical engineering principles • Ability to interpret engineering drawings • Superb problem solving and organisation skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously • Ability to communicate well with other team members Although not essential, the following are desirable for the role: • An understanding of production efficiency techniques • Driver operator / shunter assessment in relevant class of vehicle (desirable) Who we are: Arriva TrainCare provides Light and Heavy Train Maintenance services to the railway industry from its five strategically located maintenance depots.
